Mentoring/Anti-Bullying Initiative &
Teen Suicide Prevention

Our Mentoring program provides life skills workshops and activities for students grades 3rd to 8th grade.  Our speakers are business owners and educators who give students motivation to be their best self.  We partner with professional counselors to refer students in need of assessment for bullying and suicide prevention.

Our Anti-Bullying Initiative for middle and high school students contains (3) steps:

  • Identify that you are being bullying.
  • Stay to the bully, " Don't bully me or I will not be bullied by you".
  • Tell an adult or mentor.

The suicide rate among teens has climbed in the past few years, from 6.3% in 2009 to 7.8% in 2011, numbers which reflect the trend gaining national attention as more teen suicides are reported as a result of bullying.

Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death for ages 10-24. (2015 CDC WISQARS).

More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease, COMBINED.

Each day in our nation, there are an average of over 5,240 attempts by young people grades 7-12.
